
Kayabuki no Sato

Kayabuki no Sato is a mountain village where many thatched-roof houses remain, a rare sight today. Within these thatched-roof buildings, you can find a cafe offering drinks and sweets, allowing you to experience a serene and extraordinary atmosphere. Additionally, the Miyama Folklore Museum displays traditional household tools and other artifacts, providing a glimpse into the lives of the people who once lived in Miyama.

Rennyo's Waterfall

Rennyo's Waterfall is named after Rennyo Shonin, the revered restorer of the Jodo Shinshu sect, who arrived in Miyama in 1475 and praised this waterfall. The waterfall has a height of approximately 68 meters. After rain, the water volume increases, creating a spectacular view. The pond within the grounds of Kyoto Miyama Shikitei is fed by Rennyo's Waterfall. Additionally, there is a nearby blueberry farm where you can enjoy blueberry picking if the timing is right.

Michi-no-Eki
Miyama Fureai Hiroba

One place you should definitely visit when coming to Kyoto Miyama Shikitei is the roadside station "Miyama Fureai Hiroba." At the shop "Flat Miyama" within the station, you can purchase fresh local vegetables and regional specialties.
They also sell game meat sausages, which would be perfect for your barbecue.
Additionally, at the "Miyama no Megumi Milk Studio," a direct sales shop for Miyama milk, the soft serve ice cream and gelato made from Miyama milk are popular treats.

Firefly Viewing Spot Hora

In Hora, the innermost area of Miyama, you can enjoy watching fireflies, a symbol of summer, in a tranquil setting. Along the riverside paths, there are handmade walkways laid with cedar and cypress wood chips, crafted by the local people.
Here, you can enjoy the breathtaking night sky filled with stars and the gentle glow of fireflies.

Ono Dam Park
Approximately a 24-minute drive, 19 km
In spring, over 1,000 cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and in autumn, you can enjoy the vibrant colors of more than 500 trees in their autumn foliage in this dam park.
The dam lake is aptly named 'Rainbow Lake' for its seasonal changing scenery.
Additionally, cherry blossoms line Prefectural Route 12, which runs right alongside the Ono Dam, making it a perfect spot for a scenic drive while enjoying the blossoms.
